Have you ever been sitting in the front seat of your car, van, truck, or whatever, listening to the same song on repeat because your toddler just couldn’t get enough? That’s how their little brains work, right? Repetition is joy. They don’t burn out on what they love the way we do. But as parents… we do. Especially when the songs are mindless, overly repetitive, or just plain obnoxious.
This project started the way most great family stories do: with two kids in the backseat, a tired parent at the wheel, and a playlist that had lost its last ounce of charm somewhere between snack time and meltdown o’clock. We’d heard “Raining Tacos” and “Cat Flushing a Toilet” more times than we could count. And while we’re grateful for every sticky-sweet earworm out there, we thought:
What if there were songs that were just as fun for kids… but didn’t make the grownups want to eject the aux cord into traffic?
So we made our own.
Minivan Mic Drop is a musical project built for the whole car.
These are songs you can blast during a road trip, a preschool pickup line, or a spontaneous kitchen dance party. They’re silly, smart, and sometimes just plain weird—on purpose. And while they’re absolutely kid-safe, there’s plenty of subtle humor, clever rhymes, and real musicality baked in for the parents who have to hear them on loop.
Each track is original and crafted with love (and a little help from AI tools that let us turn a single idea and a stubborn rhyme into a full-blown jam). From a bloodhound named Autumn who steals anything not nailed down… to mysteriously naked dolls… to imaginary gymnastics tournaments and emotional slushie stand-offs—no parenting moment is too small or too strange to turn into a beat.
These songs are written and produced by parents, for kids—and their parents.
Our own kids listen to them in our cars. And sometimes… we listen without the kids. That’s the kind of music we make – the kind we want to hear. We sneak in fun words, playful language, and maybe a little learning here and there. It’s not as in-your-face as ABCs or Cocomelon, but it’s there between the lines.
We’re aiming for Weird Al meets Dr. Seuss at a rap battle hosted by the Beastie Boys in a barn. Or something like that.
We just hope you enjoy it.
